Jim Owens

My professional journey began as a paperboy for the Daily Journal. Even as a kid, I dreamed big, driven by a desire to work hard and take on more responsibility. At just ten years old, I transitioned to delivering for the Chicago Tribune. Fast forward to post-college, I joined RV Evans Company in industrial sales, which laid the foundation for my career in business and leadership.

Transitioning to executive search career with New Directions, I discovered a passion for connecting companies with exceptional talent. This experience ultimately paved the way for my current role as President of JobFormance, a talent acquisition firm.

Throughout my career, I’ve focused on operational excellence and client service. I am constantly inspired by the processes and people that keep the world moving. Success, I’ve found, hinges on a few simple principles: autonomy, meaningful work, teamwork, and recognition for hard effort.

At JobFormance, I’ve honed my ability to identify talent, foster relationships, and transform talent management—helping organizations achieve their goals through the power of great people.

With over 20 years of experience in executive search and talent management, I partner with organizations to identify and develop top-tier human capital. As Vice President at JobFormance, I contribute to building trusted relationships and delivering tailored talent solutions for clients across diverse industries.

My expertise lies in executive search and hiring, enabling organizations to meet their leadership needs effectively. Committed to fostering ethical practices and entrepreneurial growth, I work with our team to solve complex hiring challenges and ensure exceptional outcomes in the competitive talent landscape.

Educationally, I earned a B.A. in Political Science from Concordia University Chicago and a M.S. in Managerial Leadership from National Louis University (IL).

My passion is my family: My wife, our two children, daughter-in-law and our Borador, Auggie. Other interests: I am active in my church and mentoring; enjoy traveling the world, reading, and volunteering; finally, a variety of sports - especially University of Alabama Football (Roll Tide) and scuba diving. Originally from Alabama, I consider myself a displaced Southerner anxiously awaiting the day Waffle House comes to the Chicago area.
